Club Committee

Chairman: Raj Dhiman              

The role of Chairperson is to oversee the running of the Club and ensure that it is run efficiently and managed appropriately. He leads Club/League meetings and provides leadership across all areas of operation.

Raj has been involved with Furngate Youth for over 25 years, and can definitely say  he's a “One club” man.

 He has been married to Sue for 40 years, who has always readily supported him with his club involvement. Raj and Sue have 3 grown up sons and 2 beautiful grand-daughters.

Raj says:  'I am very proud of the achievements of the Club over the years with the Chartered Standard Award being the cherry on the cake!'


Club Secretary & Treasurer: Anne Truett

Anne's involvement with the club dates back to 2003 when her 8 year old son first joined and has been Club Secretary now for 20  years, as well as a club Treasurer. 

 

Married to Roy for 32 years, their family includes daughter Rebecca, son Sean, both who arenow married and settled. She has a 10 year old grandson, and 2 granddaughter's, a 3 year old and one born in April 2023. Anne has worked for St Catherine's Hospice in Crawley for over 20 years and enjoys supporting their many fundraising events. She feels proud that the club now  have the hospice logo on all our kits, A very proud football mum, Anne only ever missed one of Sean's games in all the years he played and was immensely proud when he took on coaching his own team at age 16, having gained his Level 1 Coaching and before moving away to university to study sports coaching &Physical Education.

The roles of Club Secretary and Treasurer can be pressured at times, but Anne still continues to enjoy her involvement with the club loves being involved with the club. 

Anne Says: 'I love watching the young players and seeing them progress through the seasons.  I have made some good friends through the “Furngate family” over the years. I am proud to be still involved with a Club that offers equal opportunities to all.'

Vice Chairman & Kit Officer: Martin Brown

Martin has been involved with Furngate for over 7 years which started with him helping coach his son's U7 football team. Since then, Martin has taken on the hugely important roles of Vice Chairman and Kit Officer.

He is also head coach of the Under 14 Youth Team which involves organising the team for their fixtures, leading them on matchdays, and organising training with his assistant coaches to develop the team's abilities.

 

Happily married to Nicola for over 25 years they have two beautiful children together. Martin also somehow finds the time to run his own successful business and visit London Stadium as often as he can to watch West Ham play.


Welfare Officer: (Profile Private)

Every club with an under-18s team must have a Club Welfare Officer who supports safe and fun environments for everyone. Our Club’s Welfare Officer is concerned with putting safeguards in place for all activities including under-18s. 

  • 1. Key responsibilities are:Overseeing the club’s responsibilities in respect of activities for under 18s.
  • 2. Helping club personnel understand what their “duty of care” towards under 18s actually means and entails on a day-to-day basis.
  • 3. Ensuring anyone involved in managing, coaching or helping with a team has an FA approved CRC and that FA qualifications and certifications relevant to each role is in place.
  • 4. Liaising with Sussex County FA should any welfare or safeguarding issues arise.   

In order to make sure that these responsibilities are upheld, the Club Welfare Officer works together with the club’s committee, coaches, players, and parents to ensure that the club offers a safe and positive environment.

As part of their role, our Club Welfare Officer has: 

An accepted DBS check via the FA CRC Unit, Completed the FA Safeguarding Children Workshop, Completed the FA Welfare Officer Workshop, Completed a Level 1 Coaching qualification.



Fixtures Secretary & Groundsman: Justin Holland

 

In his position as Fixtures Secretary, 

Justin is in charge of organising pitches for home games and ensuring the club's teams can play all of our games, a role that involves pitch allocations and regular liaising with the league.
